Cleaning

How to clean your bed linen ?

Guide so you can keep me as soft as long as possible:

When possible, wash all parts of a set together, so they continue to look the same over time.
When you have just purchased me:

Essential rule: When you bring me home, before first use, it is advisable to wash me at 30°C with a bit of detergent.
Wash me with liquid detergent as it avoids you ending up with stains on your linen and it dissolves better at a lower temperature.

Thereafter, even though the washing label advises to wash at 60°C, if the linen is not too dirty, one can limit the wash at 40°C.

Recommendations:
- Do not pack the washing machine drum too full and add water by hand
- Turn your duvet covers and pillow cases inside out
- Place in tumble dryer at the end of the wash cycle to help with ironing
- Hang your laundry on a washing line, rather than using a tumble dryer. It will be easier to iron and fresher.

How to clean your table linens ?

Linen fabric can be washed easily.

It is important to choose a good detergent.

Tip to help fix my colours: as soon as you get home, make me a luke warm (or cold) bath with vinegar, and let me soak for a night. Then do a wash at 30°, that’s it.

To wash colours, check that your detergent doesn’t contain bleaching agents or choose soap powder. If your water is hard, with a high limescale content, we recommend the use of a softner, specially made for dark colours.

If there are stains, follow the tips below:

  • Ink: soak in some milk or a mix of white soap and ammonia and rub against the stain.
  • Bload: immediately rince in cold water.
  • Fruit, coffee, tea and chocolate: rub with alcohol, white vinegar and ammonia.
  • Candles: scratch off the wax stains by hand, then use absorbent paper and a hot iron to remove the wax residues.
  • Grease stains: rub with ammonia.
  • Red wine: immediately rub with sparkling water or white wine.

If the stains persist:

You can soak the linen in good quality detergent, or washing-up liquid, or in 100g of sodium perborate dissolved in hot water and diluted to obtain around six liters, and let soak for an hour.

You must never use bleach, it can damage fiber.

How to clean your bath linens ?

How to help me stay soft and absorbent for many years to come…

After my purchase:

Essential rule: always wash me when you first bring me home. As I am new, I absorb less well. I need several machine runs to acquire my 100% absorption capacity.

Tip to help fix my colours: as soon as I get home, make me a luke warm (or cold) bath with vinegar, and let me soak for a night. Then do a wash at 30°, that’s it.
Eco tip to maintain my immaculate whiteness:

When I am of an immaculate white and I go grayish after a couple of machine runs…

1 or 2 packs of kitchen backing power in the drum of your machine will help keep your linen white.

Bear in mind that household bleach tends to make me go yellow instead of white…

When I need to be washed:

Wash me between 30° and 60°

Wash me with washing-up liquid as it avoid stains on your linen and it dissolves better at low temperature.

Avoid adding softener when you wash me as it makes me less absorbent.

Try vinegar instead of softener, it restores softness and stops me from turning into an « exfoliating towel». Plus it’s cheaper and more ecological!

Dry me in the tumble dryer, as this allows me to take shape, be luscious and to do a better job as a towel.

Using vinegar is the only way to keep my softness when line-drying me…

You can always iron me, I’ll only become softer!

How to purchase bed linen?

Determine your main criteria of choice in terms of fabric.
Compare the advantages and disadvantages of each of them.
Think of the feel,

Percale cotton and Egyptian cotton:

Percale cotton is made with the longest fibers of Egyptian cotton. Making for an unbeatable softness and style, this fabric is tightly woven (80threads/cm²). Hence its renown superior quality. This tight weaving allows for longer sustainability whilst keeping appearance new.

The supreme luxury of pure Percale Egyptian cotton is of course a tightly woven fabric that is smooth, shiny, and incredibly soft.

How to purchase table linen?

Before buying a tablecloth, select good quality fabric...

Find out your most important choice criteria in terms of fabric

Compare the advantages and disadvantages of each of them: think in terms of touch, the way the tablecloth overhangs (the higher the basic weight the slicker the way the tablecloth will overhang) and of course, maintenance.

Cotton and linen:

Offers a wonderful feel and gives a refined appeal. Maintenance is a little tricky as it needs higher washing temperatures and ironing is an absolute must.

Linen/ cotton:

A mixture of linen (55% Linen) and of polyester (45% Polyester) to keep the appearance of linen and lighten maintenance.

This mixture allows the making of tablecloths with a very natural and high quality appeal. Adding cotton makes the maintenance of the tablecloth simpler, the ironing easier.

Cotton- polyester:

This fabric combines different qualities like solidity, and durability. It’s a fabric that doesn’t crease much. Maintenance is very easy as cotton- polyester tablecloths don’t need to be ironed much.
